| Our Messianic Rabbi,
Corey Sylvester, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He went to
Hebrew School and had his bar mitzvah in an Orthodox synagogue.
He graduated from Brooklyn
College with a BS in psychology. He came to Southern California to study
Optometry. He has been practicing Optometry for thirty years. He became
a Messianic Jew in 1974 and has been following Yeshua ever since. He has
many G-d given gifts that he shares, such as music, dance, humor and drama.
While in high school
and college, he played the violin in orchestras and even played with the
Downey Symphony Orchestra. Most of all, he enjoys to sing to the Lord and
enjoys making the liturgy come alive each week for the congregation.
A little-known secret:
his cousin is Jonathan Settel, the internationally-renown vocalist in Messianic
Judaism! (www.settel.org)

Temple Aviv Judea has a close-knit, loving
and caring mishpachah (family) and our congregation consists of a multi-cultural
body of believers. It is a place where Jews and non-Jews can come together.
It is a place where "..the walls of partition have been broken down" –
Ephesians 2:14.
For the Jew, it is a place to maintain our
identity and learn about the fullness of our faith through our Jewish Messiah.
For the non-Jew, it is a place to accept the Lord’s invitation to join
the commonwealth of Israel and share in the richness of the Jewish heritage.
Together, we are one, and worship the one true G-d. We have the knowledge
and freedom to know that in His Spirit there is equality before Him.
We worship through music, liturgy and
dance. The service revolves around studying His Word with awe and respect.
We have two ‘kosher’ torahs. We fellowship afterwards with a shabbat lunch.
There are also Judaic classes and Israeli/Davidic dance.

We also have Bible Studies every 2nd and 4th
Wednesday at 7:30 pm. We honor all the Moedim [appointed feasts].
We have a ‘one-of-a-kind’ Ark that was designed
by our Rebbetzin, Hilary Sylvester. She paints on glass and her work has
been exhibited in galleries both nationally and internationally. She has
incorporated her designs on glass in the creation of the ark. The ark is
exquisite and is a visual narration of our Messianic beliefs. To view her
work, please visit her website: www.baruchdesigns.com
